Welcome to Orlando Florida GAA

We are transitioning from our current website http://orlandohurling.tripod.com  thanks to the free web site hosting and tools offered by the USGAA to new clubs.

We also wish to thank the Gaelic Athletic Association for the opportunity to host our website with them.

While we embrace all GAA sport, our current focus is hurling-driven.  We would glady join forces and promote other actvities should other zealots come forward in support.

"To some, hurling is not that important in the great scheme of things. But to hurling people, hurling IS the great scheme of things."
Ger Loughnane, Co. Clare

Practice

Never seen a match?  Click here for a run-down of the skills we use demonstrated by elite players.

Tuesday Night Practice at Cypress Grove Park has been canceled due to lack of sunlight after work hours.  However, Sunday practice remains.  Call/email Scott for times/location as we are often out promoting the sport abroad and scouting for facilities.  We're landing at Baldwin Park frequently now, but let us know when you can make it.

Need some extra practice?  Just let us know and we'll arrange it.  Your puckouts will be kept strictly confidential :)

Upcoming Plans

Charlotte NC Match:  Dec 5.  Join to watch or play in the annual Clan na nGael (ATL GAA) v. Charlotte GAA hurling match.  There's an all comers match after the main event should their teams be packed.  Join us now to get fit and get lashin'.  2 of us are already flying up and their are still tickets on Orbitz for $177.  Let's get rolling.

Orlando Hurling Train-up:  Date TBD.  As the The New World Celts recently provided us with helmets, our train-up will occur sometime next year.  Ultimately we will bring in a coach from another US club for a train-the-trainer session.  Stay posted for this.

Orlando Feis:  Jan 9, 2010.  Join our local Ocoee ladies of The Watters School at Disney for the regional competitive dance meet.  Visit Feis Works to register your troupe.

Orlando Highland Games:  Fri/Sat Jan 16-18 2010.  With support of The New World Celts Orlando Chapter, we will help them grow as we grow at this fantastic event.  Orlando Hurling will have a table for distributing information and will try to get as many people as possible swinging timber.

Chicago Hurlapalooza:  Date TBA.  Typically held on the 3rd weekend of April at Chicago's Gaelic Park, this 3 day train-up focuses on player, ref, coach, and development officer training.  Best of all, GAA players/coaches from Ireland are flown in to teach and you'll be guarenteed to play in at least 2 matches even if you don't bring a full squad.
